At the 2014 Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA) Graduation, the ABA for the first time presented the “Ernie Bonham ABA Outstanding Acheivement” Award. This award was recently established by D.P. Electric Field Operations/Safety Director, Ernie Bonham to acknowledge the work of an outstanding electrical apprentice. The first Annual award was presented to D.P. Electric employee, Wade Ginther at the ABA graduation awards on June 20, 2014.
The recipient of this annual award receives a $1000 check donated by Ernie Bonham and recognition at the ABA-AGC Graduation Ceremony. In addition the recipient’s name goes on a plaque at the ABA main office in downtown Phoenix.
To apply for the award, applicants must have a 3.5 GPA, submit up to date “on the job learning” (OJL) hours, be indentured and have good class attendance records. Additional criteria used to choose the recipient include a letter of recommendation from employer and instructor as well as a written essay on applicant’s future goals and plans in the industry. The recipient is selected by an ABA Committee.
D.P. Electric is proud of Ernie Bonham and his commitment to training and education. Ernie “is always willing to help and does everything in his power to advance our trade,” according to Dan Puente, D.P. Electric President. Ernie has been teaching electrical classes for the last 20 years and has helped train a large percentage of the electricians working in the field valley wide. He has trained the majority of D.P. Electric’s field staff and is fully committed to improving the electrical industry.
