We are proud to announce that two members of our team, Kurt Horacek and Chris Mathews, have qualified to compete in the 2012 Arizona Builders Alliance State Electrical Craft Championships. Congratulations, and great work!

Join us  Friday, January 6th as the apprentices compete all day in the 20th annual competition in the ABA Lab at Gateway Community College. The winner of this local competition will compete in the ABC National Craft Championships in San Antonio, TX April 25-27, 2012.

The Arizona Builders Alliance is extremely excited to announce a record number of toys were collected by our membership in its annual Holiday Toy Drive. This year, the membership collected over 4,000 toys, as well as gifts for the nurses on staff, to Phoenix Children's Hospital and Cardon Children's Center in Mesa.

On Tuesday, December 20th, Phoenix Children's Hospital received a flatbed full of toys unloaded by ABA members with the assistance of some elves from St. Mary's High School and Brophy College Preparatory, who took time out of their holiday breaks to help unload.

On Wednesday, December 21st, students from Arizona State University's Del E Webb School of Construction partnered with ABA members to deliver toys to Cardon Children's Center. It was the largest toy donation the hospital had ever seen, estimated to be valued at over $25,000 worth of merchandise.

The Arizona Builders Alliance, with offices in Phoenix and Tucson, represents 350 contractors, suppliers, and professional service firms serving the needs of the commercial construction industry. Community Outreach is an important part of the ABA's mission, and the Community Service Board organizes events throughout the year for a variety of sectors.

DP Electric has been a member of the Arizona Builders Alliance since 2001.

It was a beautiful December day at Kiwanis Park! The kids enjoyed bounce houses and face painters, families played volleyball and basketball, the horseshoe tournament was highly competitive, and the Project Managers rallied the troops for the Project Manager Challenge: DP Soccer. On December 3rd, 2011 DP Electric supported the Boy Scouts of America in their annual Trees for the Troops drive at the AZ Army National Guard in Papago Park. Gabe Hernandez, Leslie Palella, Matt Godbold, Wes Heier, Clint Hartley, and their families joined the Boy Scouts in the tradition of donating live Christmas trees to our military. On Thursday, September 22nd, our Belmont job site was surprised by three OSHA inspectors. They were on-site for more than six hours, but found ZERO violations thanks to our amazing team led by General Foreman Mark Szleszinski and Foreman Abe Vargas. You guys rock!

The Associated Builders and Contractors, a national association with 75 chapters representing 23,000 merit shop construction, has selected Leslie Palella as the Electrical Finalist in the Craft Professional of the Year competition.  Congratulations, Leslie! 

Last night we attended the AZRE Red Awards to applaud the winners and support everyone in Arizona whose talent and dedication continue to improve the built environment. Two of our projects received honors at the event: the Randall McDaniel Sports Center and the Phoenician Ballroom. 

The Pima County Psychiatric Hospital & Crisis Response Center has been listed as a Notable Start by Southwest Contractor.  The project is in good company, listed alongside the $500M Coolidge Generating Station and the $131M Mariposa Land Port of Entry.

Latino Perspectives Magazine has selected D.P. Electric's President Dan Puente as their Entrepreneur of the Month.  Dan was selected due to his leadership and success, which he attributes to his philosophy that the growth of the individual and the growth of the company are intertwined, and each motivates and drives the other.  You can read the entire profile here.  

The May/June edition of AZ|RE Magazine focuses on Healthcare in the Valley, and it's cover sports a fantastic rendering by CannonDesign of the Pima Psychiatric Hospital and Crisis Response Center.  DP Electric, Inc is working with DPR Construction on the $32.1M project.

SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center has been awarded Redevelopment Office or Industrial of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.   D.P. Electric provided electrical contracting for the projects South wing, parking garage, exterior & site lighting, and tenant improvements.

Electric, Inc. attended AZ|RE's RED Awards at the beautiful Scottsdale Hilton on Thursday to watch some of our projects be honored.  As the evening's drinks sponsor, we also played a part in supporting the AZ|RE and their efforts to promote and showcase good design, development, construction, and managment of properties and projects throughout the state.
