TEMPE, AZ, May 21, 2020 — At DP Electric, giving back to local communities is just one of the core values the company was built upon. As we all know, COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on the global and local economy and has left thousands of Arizonans unemployed and in need of food bank services.
However, while demand for food banks have been on the rise, many food drives which support local food banks have been canceled or postponed. This combination of an increased demand and drastic reduction in food banks ability to gather food donations has resulted in many food banks facing the threat of running out of food for Arizona families in need.
After learning about this threat and increased need, Dan Puente, DP Electric’s Owner and CEO decided to take action and challenge his team of roughly 300 employees to help raise funds to feed Arizona’s most vulnerable. DP Electric committed to match the full amount of employee donations, and together the team raised over $6,500 to support St. Mary’s food bank relief efforts.
“We have a great team at DP Electric that is committed to caring for each other and the community. When we announced the donation drive, generous donations came flooding in immediately,” said DP Electric’s CFO Danielle Puente. “This is a testament to the great people we have at DP Electric that are making a positive impact during a challenging time.”
DP Electric has partnered with St. Mary’s in the past for volunteer efforts. 95% of all donations received by St. Mary’s Food Bank directly funds their mission to help feed the hungry throughout most of Arizona. This means that for every $10 donated, St. Mary’s is able to provide 70 meals for families in need.
“In these challenging times for both those in need and the food bank, St. Mary’s is grateful to companies like DP Electric for stepping forward to help,” St. Mary’s President and CEO Tom Kertis said. “This donation will allow us to distribute enough food to provide more than 45,000 meals at a time when emergency food is more important than ever.”
